Crochet braids

Crochet braiding (or rather ‘the crochet method’) is a way of adding extensions to one’s hair. As with a weave, the basis of the method is first cornrowing one’s hair then applying the extensions to the cornrows. Unlike a weave, however, the hair used is loose and not on a weft. And instead of being sewn in, crochet hair is kind of looped under the cornrows with a crochet needle (essentially a hook) and secured with a knot of sorts.

A wet set is a method of styling black hair, preferably immediately following a shampoo and conditioning session while the hair is still wet to very damp. A wet set can either create curls or straighten the hair, depending on the tools used. Magnetic rollers of various sizes are often used to curl the hair or create a gentle curl or "bump" on the ends while providing volume. Women also use straws for "straw sets" on wet hair.

Relaxer

The relaxer is applied to the base of the hair shaft and remains in place for a "cooking" interval, during which it alters the hair's texture by a process of controlled damage to the protein structure. The hair can be significantly weakened by the physical overlap of excessive applications or by a single excessive one, leading to brittleness, breakage, or even widespread alopecia. When the relaxer has worked to the desired degree, the hair is rinsed clean. Regardless of formula, relaxers are always alkaline to some degree, so it is prudent to neutralize or even slightly acidify the hair with a suitable shampoo immediately afterward. The prompt use of hair conditioner is also important in order to replace some of the natural oils that were stripped away by the process.

Instead of using grease to get a sleek, straight style, the silk press uses a flat iron and a light oil serum to give hair its bounce and sheen. After a clarifying shampoo and hydrating conditioner, hair gets infused with even more moisture through a steam treatment and deep condition. After your locks are blown out, titanium or ceramic flat irons are used to "silken" natural hair.Less damaging than a traditional press and curl, a silk press leaves hair looking shiny and soft, with lots of movement.

Twists

Hair twists, flat twists, or mini-twists, are a hairstyle popular with Afro-textured hair, and sometimes with other hair textures. The style is achieved by dividing the hairs into several sections, twisting strands of hair, then twisting two twisted strands around one another. They can also be created with one strand of hair at a time, with a comb.[1] They are not to be confused with larger, longer dreadlocks, (or "locs").Twists can be made when naturally curly hair is still wet and somewhat relaxed from soaking with hot water; when the hair dries, it will shrink, creating a tightly woven texture to the hair twists. Twists can also be done with dry hair for a different texture. Twists can be combined with other hairstyles at the same time.

The Interlocking method of starting locs is an alternative to the more traditional palm rolling loc method. It’s one that is highly recommended because palm rolled locs are more susceptible to breakage due to the stress of repeated rolling and twisting of the hair at the roots. Interlocking is a relatively controversial method of placing and maintaining dreadlocks. It is most typically used in individuals with kinky/afro-textured hair, but is sometimes used in silky Caucasian hair. Usually it is done with a latch hook (and is, therefore, sometimes also referred to as latch hooking) and involves pulling the hair/dreadlock through itself in a rotating fashion from the end of the lock to the root creating a pattern not too visibly unsimilar to that of Rip & Twist.

Hair Fusion

New to hair extensions? Fusion hair extensions are one of the most popular methods of professional hair extension attachment, mostly because it’s the oldest and most traditional method of attaching hair extensions. Stylists and clients love Fusion because it’s trusted, natural, and long-lasting. You’ll also hear people call this the “hot fusion” or “glue-in” method (even though our method doesn’t use glue).Fusion hair can last for about three to six months. As you wear Fusion extensions, your hair will grow as it normally does, and that growth causes the bond and hair extension to move further and further away from the scalp. That’s why it’s important to go in for touch ups every few weeks so your stylist can adjust the bonds by removing them and re-applying them closer to the scalp.

Cornrows or braids, also called canerows in the Caribbean, are an ancient traditional African style of hair grooming, in which the hair is braided very close to the scalp, using an underhand, upward motion to produce a continuous, raised row.[1] Cornrows are often formed in simple, straight lines, as the name implies, but they can also be formed in complicated geometric or curvilinear designs. Depending on the region of the world, cornrows are worn by men or women, or both, and are sometimes adorned with beads or cowry shells. Often favored for their easy maintenance, rows can be left in for weeks at a time if maintained through careful washing of the hair and regular oiling of the scalp. Braids pulled too tight or worn for considerable lengths of time can cause a type of hair loss known as traction alopecia.
